It Pays To Stay With God
Proverbs 3:5-6 says,
5 Trust in the Lord with all thine heart; and lean not unto thine own understanding.
6 In all thy ways acknowledge him, and he shall direct thy paths.
Tonight's blog post is one that I am certain will be a blessing to your soul. It will encourage anyone who is contemplating yielding their life to the Lord to do so with expediency. It will also serve as a powerful encouragement to anyone who has yielded their life to the Lord but may be going through severe trials. Dr. Loubertha Hubbard, an Evangelist at Full Gospel Holy Temple Church in Dallas, TX, encourages us to stay with God, no matter our situation. God gave her great promises, and He has fulfilled every one of them. Let's eagerly delve into the testimony of this powerful woman of God.
May God bless everyone!
My prayer is that everyone be blessed by this testimony and know, “God is no respecter of persons” (Acts 10:34).
At the age of eighteen, after graduating from high school, I moved from my small hometown to another city in another state. I was searching for a more prosperous way to fulfil my life dreams. My father was diagnosed with heart disease when I was in third grade. After he became unable to work, I watched my dear mother labor hard to provide for the family. I was motivated to get a good job to help out. I knew I had to leave home to fulfil my dreams because the things I wanted out of life could not be found in my small hometown. I was not interested in college at the time because college would take some time. What I needed was a job to make money right now. It would have made an exceptional difference in my life as well as in the lives of my parents and two brothers, who were still in school. I didn’t have any money for travel, but it was in my heart to find a way. Somehow, a small job became available on a green pepper farm. I was hired for the position. I made enough money to purchase a ticket to Dallas, Texas. It was in the year 1967. The ticket price from my destination (the transit center in Rayville, Louisiana) to Dallas, Texas, was $6.04. I moved to Dallas, seeking a better life. Life was better, but it was not as I thought it would be.
After settling in Dallas, I was married and became the mother of two daughters. For me, this was part of my dream life. Later, I was invited to Full Gospel Holy Temple Church. Since I had been a ‘church-goer’ all my life, attending service was not a problem. One Thursday night, December 7, 1972, I went to church with no intention of answering the altar, but that night was my night. The Lord drew me to the altar, saved me, and filled me with the Holy Ghost. He rearranged my life and gave it a brand-new meaning.
‘I was very happy with my new walk with Christ. My spiritual life was incredibly blissful. However, my natural life was about to make a hundred-eighty-degree turn. I could not have imagined in depth what I was facing ahead. It seemed the bottom completely fell out in every aspect of my life, but the Lord kept me encouraged to stay with Him. My life became a crisis. Unexpectedly, I was left responsible for supporting my two daughters. Because I was a housewife/stay-at-home mom, I had no job. It seemed that I had come to my very lowest and was at my very end. In spite of my life situations, I always remembered what the Late Great Apostle Lobias Murray would say, “It pays to stay with God.” In good times and when times are not so good, staying with God is always the very best option. My natural life was trials and trouble on every hand. From day to day, my heart carried a heavy burden.
One night at church service, as we were closing, everyone was singing “God be with you until we meet again.” I closed my eyes and, from the depths of my heart, I began to talk directly to the Lord. I said, “Lord, what am I going to do now?” (having two babies and no way to support them). This was the first time I remember hearing the Lord talk to me. He said, “I BROUGHT YOU THIS FAR, AND I’M GOING TO CARRY YOU ON.” I didn’t see anything and didn’t feel anything, but I had God’s Word. As time went on, He blessed me with a job, but I needed a babysitter. God moved upon the young lady, who led me to the Lord, to be the sitter for my daughters. They were well kept, and she never charged me anything, but when time allowed, I paid her well for taking good care of them. I had no transportation to get them to the sitter; walking was my only option. There were times when the weather was very cold. I would warmly dress them and walk them to the sitter, which was in the opposite direction from my job. Then I would walk back, past where I lived, to get to work. After work, I would walk past my apartment to pick them up, and we would walk back home. Each workday was the same routine. It was extremely hard, but I held on to God. Only He knew how hard things were. As I walked to and from work each day, I prayed and talked to God. So many times, with tears streaming down my face. My heart was very heavy, but I never had a mind to turn back on God.
Although I went to work every day, it always seemed that there was never enough money. On fast days, I would fast, and on non-fast days, I would make them fast days and pray, because I didn’t have money to buy lunch. I never talked to others about how things were with me because I didn’t want anyone to know. There were many hard trials along this Christian journey, but I never lost hope.
As time went on, things improved, but many jobs began to close, including mine. Again, I was without. One day, as I was riding down the street, it was as if the Lord was in person, in the car with me. He spoke and said, “YOU ARE NOT GOING TO HAVE TO WANT FOR ANYTHING.” As the time before, I didn’t see anything, and I didn’t feel anything different, but again, I had His Word.
Shortly after He spoke those words to me, He impressed upon me to continue my education, 26 years after high school. He blessed me to enroll in a junior college, and two years later, He blessed me to graduate with an Associate of Arts and Sciences degree. God is SO AMAZING. The following semester, I enrolled in a four-year University to pursue a bachelor’s degree. Before I graduated with this degree, God blessed me with a full-time teaching position with the Dallas Independent School District, before I was certified to teach. Thereafter, He blessed me to graduate with a Bachelor of Applied Arts and Sciences in Psychology, with a minor in Business Administration. Afterward, I received my certification to teach.
While using my teaching skills to educate young children, I realized there were gaps in their lives that prevented them from becoming successful readers. I was presented with the opportunity to become an Academic /Language Therapist. With this special expertise, I have been blessed to prepare many elementary students for reading success. IT IS ALL GOD!
Later, after earning my Bachelor’s degree, I was inspired to pursue further education. I obtained a “Master’s” degree in Counseling. The Lord carried me even further thereafter. He blessed me to graduate with a “Doctorate” in Education, with a Specialization in Teaching Teachers. Now I really realize what the Chief Apostle Lobias Murray meant when he said, “It pays to stay with God,” no matter what comes or goes. “The blessings of the Lord” truly “maketh rich and He addeth no sorrow, with it,” (Proverbs 10:22)
As time moved on, the Lord was still blessing. In the year 2005, the church was encouraged to go on a three-day consecration, Wednesday through Friday. Early the next day, the Saturday morning after, the Lord woke me up about 5:00 a.m. This time, He said to me, “I’M BRINGING YOU INTO YOUR PROMISED LAND.” Again, I didn’t see anything, and I didn’t feel anything different, but I had His Word. I did not know what He meant by those words, but thinking about all the things the children of Israel went through before they reached the Promised Land made me realize God was about to do a new thing in my life.
During this time, I lived in a third-floor apartment. I was seeking an apartment on the first-floor level. As I continued my search, the Lord led me to an area where new homes were being built. He moved me to inquire about purchasing a home. This was SO not me, but I did it. It was ALL God! I never thought I could obtain a newly built home so trouble-free. I was told to choose the lot where I wanted the home built. I did that also. Then I was informed to choose the house I wanted. In choosing, I was able to make changes to some things in the house and add others as it was being built. This was NONE of me but ALL God.
He blessed me to pay the closing costs for the closing preparation, but at the time of closing, the Lord moved on the closing agent to give my closing money back. I paid ABSOLUTELY NOTHING. All I had to do was sign the papers, get my keys, and move into my new home. This was truly a miracle blessing from God. IT PAYS TO STAY WITH GOD! TRULY THIS WAS ALL GOD! The Lord provided for me in a mighty way.
After moving into my new home, I did not have furniture for it, but God KEEPS His word. He blessed me with the ability to purchase new furniture for the entire house, without worrying about the furniture bill. HE IS SO AWESOME AND SO AMAZING! Remembering again what Apostle Lobias Murray said, “If you stay with God, there is no telling where He will take you.” So many other things the Lord has done for me, but time does not allow me to tell them all. However, you can take my word for it: “It pays to stay with God.” You will never regret it! I did not know then, but later realized the Lord was making and molding me for His glory and honor.
I am eternally grateful to have had such brilliant spiritual leaders, ‘PASTOR AND FOUNDER’ Apostle Lobias Murray and Founding First Lady, Dr. Shirley Murray, who cared about the whole person. They laid such a ‘solid foundation’ for us to continue to build upon. I am also grateful to Apostle Herman L. Murray and Dr. Lady Danielle Murray, who picked up the mantle, continued the ministry, and led me into the Kingdom of God.
There really aren’t any words to describe how GOOD, how GREAT, and how AWESOME God really is. I am a living witness that staying with Him MOST CERTAINLY pays off.
My life is now being fulfilled with ALL the PROMISES OF GOD, ( “In Him they are yea and amen,” (2 Corinthians 1:20). I’m further waiting to receive my crown in Glory when He comes to receive His own!
MAY GOD FOREVER BLESS YOU!
As of today, 53 years later, Dr. Loubertha Hubbard is still walking with the Lord, living a holy, blessed, and acceptable life unto Him. She had no idea of the potential that lay within her when she started her walk with the Lord or what God had in store for her. Today, Dr. Hubbard serves as an Evangelist and Sunday School teacher, and heads the Altar Work Ministry at Full Gospel Holy Temple Church in Dallas, TX. She prays with individuals and coaches them on receiving the gift of the Holy Ghost. Finally, each Monday and Friday morning at 10:00 am CST, she is presented live as one of the co-anchors on the podcast ‘Speak Lord’, which is also streamed on YouTube.
After hearing this testimony, you also want to be saved. You may feel convicted of your life of sin and desire to be set free. Perhaps you want to live for God in the same way that she continues to live for Him today. Guess what. You can be saved! God loves you so much that He sent his only begotten Son, Jesus Christ, to die for you so that your soul can be saved.
The method for salvation that God put in place is very simple. You simply repent of your sins, invite Jesus to save you, and commit to living for Him. He is well able to save your soul and keep you if you want to be kept. Next, ask God for the power of the Holy Ghost with the evidence of speaking in tongues. You need this power to successfully live the life that He requires.
Repeat the words I provide, or similar ones, and you are saved. Remember, I can provide the words, but you must give the sincerity. Say, "Father, forgive me of all my sins. Save my soul. If you save me, I will live for you forever."
Once you have made your commitment to God and mean it with all your heart, your soul will be translated immediately from the Kingdom of Darkness into the Kingdom of Light. Jesus will come into your heart and let you know that you are saved.
Next, ask God for the infilling of the Holy Ghost. The Bible says in Luke 11:13 that He will give the Holy Spirit to anyone who asks.
13 If ye then, being evil, know how to give good gifts unto your children: how much more shall your heavenly Father give the Holy Spirit to them that ask him?
Ask for the infilling of the Holy Ghost in this way: "Father, fill me with the Holy Ghost." You will know that you are filled with the Spirit because you will speak in new tongues. You will receive a prayer language that allows your spirit to speak to God and that gives you the power to live holy.
Mark 16:17 says
17 And these signs shall follow them that believe; In my name shall they cast out devils; they shall speak with new tongues;
Acts 1:8 also tells us that we will receive the power we need to live the life God requires when we receive the Holy Ghost.
8 But ye shall receive power, after that the Holy Ghost is come upon you: and ye shall be witnesses unto me both in Jerusalem, and in all Judaea, and in Samaria, and unto the uttermost part of the earth.
Persist in prayer until you receive the Holy Ghost, evidenced by speaking in tongues and the power to live holy.
Once you are saved, you are a new creature in Christ Jesus, and you need to become a part of a body of believers, a church, which will help you in your new walk with the Lord. Read from the Holy Bible every day and expect the Lord to speak to you from His Word. I invite you, if you live in the US, to find one of the 30+ Full Gospel Holy Temple Churches near you.
